Daily Activities include: School Age Visitors10:00 – 2:00pm daily. Weekday activities will include something for all ages – educational, interpretative and interactive and most of all fun! Elementary schools in the Lynn Valley area will be invited to visit the site during the week to be entertained, informed, and encouraged in participating in on-site activities. The North -Vancouver Public Library is hosting a reading Olympics for school-age children and Molly the Mountaineer will be on hand to talk about mountaineering in our area. For the slightly younger folk, a Craft area will provide both school age and moms & toddlers with some hands-on fun and creativity. Interpretative Centre 10:00am – 8:00pm daily. Located in the Community Room of the Lynn Valley Library, the centre will showcase the history of winter sports in North Vancouver and our connections to the Olympics. Displays of winter sporting equipment will provide an up close look for visitors of the workings of various Olympic and Paralympic sports. The North Shore Museum and Archives will have static and interactive displays, and for our out of town visitors there will be lots of information on business, lifestyle and cultural opportunities on the North Shore. Sports PlaygroundOutside visitors can try their hand at a playground version of sports - curling, balancing on wobble boards, ski simulators, hockey and biathlon in our playground area. Drop in daily, with sign up for 3 on 3 hockey tourneys– so get your team together and come on down! SeniorsThe outdoor café will be welcoming for seniors including discounted rates on food & beverage. There will be activities and entertainment geared especially towards this important group of residents in our community. Late afternoonsRelax in the outdoor lounge at the end of the workday. Get caught up on the latest Olympic news. Have a spicy tea or hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts or hot appies, listen to some great live music, try curling for the first time, or some three on three hockey. Watch the medal ceremonies and visit with family and friends. WeekendsThe Playground area will be full on during the day as will the outdoor café. Entertainment will run on the stage at regular intervals; consisting of bands, street performers, magicians, guest athletes and demonstrations. Sports on the big screen might be the ticket, or a visit to the Interpretative Centre. Weekends have contests, bands, guest appearances – it’s Valleyfest - the 2010 winter event for one and all! Volunteers –Upwards of 300 people have already registered to volunteer to make this happen – and we can still use your help!
